What are the signs to recognize a stroke?

n France, every year, on average, there is one Cerebrovascular Accident (CVA) every 4 minutes and 30,000 people die from it.

What are the causes of a stroke?

Strokes result from a sudden problem in a blood vessel - a heart attack or hemorrhage - in the brain.

Stroke is a sudden and variable neurological deficit, the nature and extent of which depends on the size and location of the affected blood vessel.

Even if a stroke victim survives the event, there may still be after-effects. If the clot persists, the affected neurons die within a few minutes: 1.9 million neurons are destroyed per minute.

What are the after-effects of a stroke?

Even if the victim survives a stroke, he or she can still suffer extremely debilitating after-effects. It's not death or nothing.

There is therefore very little time to react and contact the emergency services that will be able to take care of the victim. That's why this video explains how to recognize the symptoms of a stroke in order to avoid tragedy.
