How to avoid drowning in a natural environment?

More than 500 people die from drowning each year. Drowning is the second leading cause of accidental death in children under 15 years of age.

Drowning occurs when the airways are flooded and the victim is unable to breathe.

How long does it take to drown?

The sea and ocean, with its waves and current, make swimming more difficult and are obviously a dangerous place for the youngest children. A child can drown in 20 centimetres of water in just a few minutes without making a sound.

A child who swims in the sea therefore requires constant vigilance on the part of parents to prevent tragedies.

There are other safety gestures that can help avoid this danger, we explain them in this video.

Learn about swimming conditions and dangers. Prefer supervised areas for swimming. Enter the water gradually.

Never leave a child alone in or near the water, even in supervised areas. Do not allow children to dive without knowing the depth of the area.

Buoys and floating objects do not protect against drowning. They can be easily carried by the current.

Do not overestimate its capabilities. Heat can diminish them. Do not swim during digestion, do not consume alcohol before swimming.
