In France there are more than 300,000 fires per year, or more than 800 per day. Having to evacuate a building because of a fire is therefore an event that can most likely occur in your professional life.

Is evacuation training necessary in the event of a fire ?

This is why the evacuation of a building follows strict rules and instructions which must be applied in order to avoid tragedies. Some employees have a well-defined role and must ensure that the evacuation takes place properly while waiting for help to arrive.

This is particularly the case of the file-holder, who must bring up the rear and check that all employees have evacuated. We detail its role in this video.

What is the deadliest thing in a fire?

And contrary to what one might think at first glance, it is not the flames that kill the most in fires, but the toxic fumes given off by the combustion of office materials.

What should I do in the event of a fire?

A fire has broken out, the evacuation is in progress. Walk around the offices, open all the doors, make sure every room is empty. Then close the windows and exit by closing the doors.

Don't forget to also check in the toilet.

Ensure that the evacuation takes place in a calm manner.

Don't take the elevator, don't run! Direct employees to the guide-leader .

When the level is completely cleared, exit last and close the emergency exit
